Why we built this
Between us we've spent careers inside health plans, IPAs, MSOs, and risk-bearing hospital systems - building DOFR libraries by hand, hiring teams of examiners to interpret EOCs, fighting trading partners over division of financial responsibility one claim at a time.
It became obvious that the work didn't scale, and that the existing claims platforms - built in the 2000s for fee-for-service - were never going to scale it. Contract logic was trapped in PDFs that machines couldn't read. So examiners read them. Badly. Inconsistently. Slowly.
Where we go from here
Gabeo is the layer we wished we'd had. A system of record for DOFRs and benefit grids. An audit layer on top of any claims platform. Evidence - not estimates - for every variance.
We're building Gabeo for the operators who actually run delegated risk. The CFOs forecasting risk-pool performance. The VPs of Claims tired of trial-by-examiner. The DOFR analysts holding the whole thing together with a spreadsheet and a will to live.
What we believe
That the delegated model is one of the best things American healthcare has ever produced - and that its operators deserve software worthy of the work. That AI's first job in healthcare is to make the financial backbone correct, not to replace clinical judgment. That every claim deserves the contract clause that justifies its payment, available in one click.
